Charles Paul “Chaz” Bell, known professionally among the music world as Slug Christ, is an American singer, rapper and record producer from Atlanta, Georgia. With a vast back catalog on record labels such as Awful Records, Blackhouse Records Ltd, and Eyeball Records, Bell has spent years among a very versatile group of music genres ranging everywhere from noisecore and grindcore, to industrial, trap and hip-hop music.
Bell attended Savannah College of Art and Design, where he studied painting and fine arts. He began his musical career performing as a vocalist in the mathcore band An Isle Ate Her. The band released one full-length and one EP and played in support for successful acts such as Chelsea Grin during their run. The band eventually broke up and Bell pursued making beats and rapping over them after being introduced to the Internet rap scene from a friend of An Isle Ate Her’s bass player.
In the years spanning his releases, his lyrical content usually addresses themes about depression, drug use, and religion. After a stretch of successful underground album and EP releases, it was during this time that his interest in literary arts began to join with his visual works. Taking from various themes of sociology, theology, and various personal experiences, an outlet was found in taking on a book project he had been looking to complete for years, Encyclopaedia Supermundanae.
Chaz Bell currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
